Smart Fabrication is an award-winning South Australian business that specialises in the planning, design, construction and installation of mechanical and medium to heavy structural projects.
Commencing operations in 1999, Smart Fabrication was not much more than a vision for the then boilermaker/welder, Simon Kennedy.
Now Smart Fabrication Managing Director, Mr Kennedy had a vision to build a company to rival the best in the industry, to offer more than the average.
15 years on and now with over 65 employees, Smart Fabrication has grown considerably, diversifying into new markets, expanding to a second site and developing its capability to service projects around the country.
“˜We don’t do average’ is deeply ingrained in what Mr Kennedy refers to as Smart Fab culture.
The culture is one of the reasons Mr Kennedy believes the company has seen continuous growth, averaging more than 50 per cent annually over the last few years.
“We believe we’re helping our clients achieve their goals. Big or small, they are all equally important, and we are genuinely excited to work together to achieve results and develop long standing partnerships with our clients,” said Mr Kennedy.
“Common sense, or as we like to refer to it, rare sense just isn’t the norm. Quite often people just don’t take the time to get together and brainstorm the best solution to a problem. We like to do it the “˜smart’ way”.
Working under Enerflex Process, Smart Fabrication was recently involved in the Moomba Compression Station project for APA Group.
The company completed much of the pipe fabrication as well as a substantial amount of site work.
Over a nine-to-twelve-month period, the company completed over 3,300 butt welds on pipe up to 600 NB Sch120.
Each of these welds were tested to the AS 4037 Class 1 standard and a pass rate of 99.23 per cent was achieved – substantially higher than the industry average.
Smart Fabrication has been servicing the Australian pipeline industry for the past two years, during which time its service offerings have grown to include:
- Pipe spooling (CS, SS, Duplex, CrMo, MSCL);
- Pipe skids, tanks and pressure vessels;
- Medium to heavy structural;
